The site does not ask for sensitive personal data. Please do not include it in a message unless it is genuinely necessary and agreed in advance.

  • Contact form: name, email address, optional organisation, message, current site language, and the page from which the message is sent.
  • Technical data: the hosting provider may process the IP address, timestamp, browser type, and request metadata needed for delivery, security, and service diagnostics.
  • Bot protection: Vercel BotID Basic verifies a browser challenge when you submit the contact form to help block automated spam.

Purposes and legal bases

The form does not subscribe anyone to a newsletter, and the data is not used for behavioural advertising.

  • Protecting and operating the website: Ratna’s legitimate interest in security, availability, and technical diagnostics.
  • Measuring visits and improving site content with Vercel Web Analytics: Ratna’s legitimate interest in understanding how the site is used. You can opt out at the bottom of this page.

Recipients and transfers

The website’s static files remain distributed through Vercel’s global network. Ratna does not sell personal data. Where a provider or subprocessor nevertheless processes data outside the European Economic Area, the transfer must be covered by an adequacy decision or appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses.

  • Authorised people within Ratna who need the information to respond.
  • Vercel Inc., the website hosting, bot protection and analytics provider, at 440 N Barranca Avenue #4133, Covina, CA 91723, United States. The contact function is configured to execute in Vercel region cdg1, in Paris, France. This region does not determine where analytics data is processed.
  • Brevo (Sendinblue SAS), the production provider used to deliver contact-form emails. Brevo states that the servers on which it processes and stores its databases are located exclusively within the European Union, primarily in France and Germany, with Google Cloud storage in Belgium.

Retention

  • Business enquiries: up to 24 months after the last meaningful exchange, unless an engagement begins or longer retention is needed for a legal obligation or legal claim.
  • Collaborator introductions: up to 12 months after the last exchange, unless the person agrees to longer retention.
  • Technical logs: for the limited period configured by the hosting provider and needed for security, diagnostics, and service operation.
  • Audience statistics: for the retention period provided by the Vercel Web Analytics plan in use. Opting out stops future collection but does not delete statistics already aggregated.

Cookies and browser storage

Cookieless audience measurement and its controls are described at the bottom of this page. Contact-form security checks remain active when audience measurement is disabled.

If you choose Dark, Light or System, your browser saves that preference under the ratna-theme local storage key. It stays on your device and is not sent to Ratna. System follows your device’s appearance. Without a saved preference, the site uses the dark theme.

The site also saves your language preference in your browser. You can change it using the EN and FR links. It stays on your device and is not sent to Ratna.

If you change the analytics setting, your browser saves your choice under ratna-analytics-opt-out. This setting stays on your device, does not identify you and is not sent to Vercel. It remains saved until you change it or clear this site’s browser data.

Your rights

You may ask for access, correction, deletion, or restriction of your data, and object to processing based on legitimate interests, using the privacy contact above. Other GDPR rights may apply depending on the processing.

You may also lodge a complaint with the Belgian Data Protection Authority.

Cookieless audience measurement

We use Vercel Web Analytics, enabled by default, to measure visits and page views. It sets no cookies and does not track your browsing across different websites.

Vercel derives a temporary hash from incoming requests to distinguish visits. According to Vercel, the session is automatically discarded after 24 hours. This period applies to the session, not to aggregated statistics.

Vercel receives page views, visit times, the referring site, and browser, operating system, device type and approximate location information. We remove query parameters and fragments from page URLs. We send no form contents, custom events or account identifiers. We do not use these statistics for advertising, profiling or session replay.
